In Tanzania, Helen Peter has dedicated her life to helping children with disabilities live with dignity and joy. Through her organization, the Tambua Utu Foundation, she provides children with wheelchairs, physical therapy, and family support — ensuring that every child, regardless of ability, can experience inclusion, movement, and love.
Tambua Utu means “Recognize Humanity” — and that is exactly what Helen’s work does. She recognizes the beauty, worth, and potential in every child she meets.
💛 What Tambua Utu Foundation Does
- Provides mobility devices such as wheelchairs and walkers for children with cerebral palsy and similar disabilities
- Offers physical therapy and caregiver training to parents so children can continue progress at home
- Raises awareness in the community about inclusion and accessibility
- Creates a loving network of families supporting each other through shared challenges

LOTUS Humanitarian has proudly sponsored 15 wheelchairs for Helen’s foundation so far — changing the daily lives of children who once had no way to move beyond the walls of their homes.
Our current goal is to help fund a full-time therapist salary, ensuring children receive consistent care and parents are empowered with the skills to support them.
