In Tanzania, Yuster Njao has built a safe haven for children with disabilities — a place where compassion, care, and community transform lives every single day.
Her Safe Home for Children with Disabilities provides children with conditions such as cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, blindness, and deafness with the attention and care they deserve. But Yuster’s work extends far beyond the walls of her center — she also visits families in remote villages who cannot bring their children to her.
What she has created is more than a center — it’s a family built on love and inclusion.
💛 What the Safe Home Provides
- Daytime care for children with disabilities while mothers work or attend school
- Two nutritious meals a day for each child
- Essential physical and developmental therapy
- Home visits to support children and parents unable to reach the center
For many mothers, this center is life-changing — allowing them to work, earn income, and regain hope for their families’ futures.

LOTUS Humanitarian partners with Yuster to support the center’s daily operations, staff, and nutrition program.
Her team of caregivers and volunteers works tirelessly, often with limited resources. The greatest current needs include:
- Funding for therapists and staff salaries
- $80 per week to provide food for all the children
- Supplies for therapy, hygiene, and daily care
💫 Every $80 feeds the entire group of children for one week.

Yuster’s devotion is an act of pure love. She says, “Every child has a light inside them — all they need is someone to see it.”
Her dream is to grow her center, hire full-time therapists, and continue visiting rural families who otherwise have no access to care.
