Giving Doesn't Always Mean Money
A bag of baby clothes, bed sheets, pillows, and a little help with food. These were the things a friend in Tanzania brought to a mother and her children during a recent visit. Some came from a large donation of baby clothes following She Dares to Wander’s trip to Tanzania this year. Others came from her own home, things her family no longer used that could still be useful to someone else.
She sent us this lovely note of thanks, and I wanted to share it in her own words. It is a reminder that giving does not always have to mean giving money, and that the care shared during a trip can continue through the people who live and serve in that community long after the travelers return home.
A Personal Message From Our Friend in Tanzania
"With a grateful heart, I would like to thank She Dares to Wander for the beautiful donation of baby clothes. Your kindness is already reaching families who truly need support.
This month, I chose to focus on giving back, and I was able to visit a young mother who had just welcomed a baby boy. Life has been very difficult for her. When I visited, she had no food for herself or her two children, and her little baby was very sick. He has a swollen tongue and is struggling to breastfeed, and he will need medical treatment. I was connected to her through a doctor who shared her story with me, and together with a few friends, we are exploring ways to continue supporting her.
Along with the precious baby clothes from She Dares to Wander, I also added some items from my own home that are still in good condition but no longer being used — bed sheets, pillows, and clothes and shoes that belonged to David and Joshua. We packed everything into one large bag and delivered it to the family, together with a small amount to help them buy food.
Seeing the smile on this mother’s face reminded me that even small acts of kindness can bring hope during difficult times. Thank you, She Dares to Wander, for being part of this journey of love and compassion. Your generosity has made a difference, and the first bag of baby clothes has already found a home where it was deeply needed.
May we continue to share hope, one family at a time." ❤️
Something you already have may be something someone needs
Financial donations remain important, but they are not the only way to contribute. The starting point is a conversation about what is needed and what can be delivered responsibly. My Birthday Fundraiser Continues Through October 22!
My birthday fundraiser for LOTUS Humanitarian continues through October 22, giving us another week to work toward our $5,000 goal. To everyone who has already given, thank you. We are so grateful for your support and for the trust you place in this work. If you are able, please help us reach our goal with a gift of any size. If giving financially is not possible right now, sharing the fundraiser with someone who might want to help is another way to support us.
Help us reach the birthday fundraiser goal 🩷🙏🪷
Whether you offer a donation, share something useful from your home, or introduce someone to LOTUS Humanitarian, thank you for helping us spread love and relieve suffering. This note from Tanzania shows what that can look like in one family’s life.
With love and gratitude,
Anya
